Cerumen (Wax) Management

Ear wax, or cerumen, is a waxy oil produced in the ear canal. A small amount of ear wax is normal, and even beneficial. It protects and cleans the ear canal while creating a barrier from debris and bacteria. Most often, the ear is a self-cleaning system— there is no need to clean it yourself! In fact, you should always avoid putting any sort of tool in your ear to clean it. However, sometimes the ear produces too much wax which can build up and block the ear canal. This can impair the ability to hear or can be uncomfortable.

Dr. Whiteley has been trained in ear wax removal procedures, and he can gently and safely remove ear wax from your ear.
